Every week, we the contributors of Superglooze are going to round up some things that we have been really enjoying this week and share them with anyone willing to give it a try. We’ll try and keep a good mix of free/paid/subscription stuff because unlike a tree, we aren’t made of money.
DLou: This week I have had a few friends texting me about their favorite episodes of the podcast, Switched on Pop, a show in which Nate Sloan and Charlie Harding discuss the making and meaning of popular music, my favorite episode looks to the amazing shine theory Ann Friedman (of the like titled podcast) to discuss the song Call Your Girlfriend by Robyn, and my favorite theory, that Robyn is the girlfriend. Listen here. Speaking of Ann Friendman, she distributes an amazing newsletter , every Friday. I’d also like to suggest you subscribe to my favorite source of corgi gifs on the internet, the Two Bossy Dames newsletter , where Margaret and Sophie provide a glorious world of gifs and pop culture news/knowledge.
Annie: This week, I’ve been listening to the brand new Kiiara EP, low kii savage, and let me tell you, it really sucks you in. Kiiara has a really cool mix of pop, chill, electronic, party, and robotic bleep blorp sounds that make you feel like you’re at the chillest movie spring break party of all time. All the songs are great, but I personally can’t get enough of Tenessee. I’ve also been really feeling the super unique remixes of Austrialian DJ What So Not, in particular, this Branchez remix, which I’ve listened to likely over 100 times in the past few weeks.
Ashley: I just have two things I’d like you to check out this week. First is the brand spankin’ new video for the recent release by Minneapolis rapper Astronautalis, “Running Away From God”. It is a pretty good song, and Astronautalis is an incredibly attractive human, in my opinion. And yes, you got me. Minneapolis alt-rap is literally the only genre of music I know anything about. ALSO, please for the love of god read this post from last week by Mallory Ortberg over at the Toast. It might be the funniest thing I’ve ever read.
From the whole Glooze team: please check the absolutely delightful Podcasts Are Wonderful, hosted by friend of the website Greggy Hockstetler. A podcast about podcasts?? It works, and it’s an absolute joy every week. You may even get to hear from some familiar friends.
