Listen. I’ve been working very hard on this article today. I’ve written, I’ve rewritten and I’ve punched up. I’ve done everything I could to make this article good, but I just have one question for you. Is this article funny?
Sure, this article is relatable and strikes an emotional cord with anyone who has experienced self-doubt. But is it funny? I just don’t know.
I suppose this article could be classified as “meta humor”. However, for something to be meta humor it has to be both meta AND humorous. This article certainly has the meta part down. But is it funny? Please, tell me.
Humor is subjective, and what is incredibly funny to one person may not be funny at all to another. Even if 99 percent of people were to find this article funny, you could be the one percent to find it lackluster and boring. So, I ask of you, is this article funny? Before you answer, consider whether your opinion might actually be an outlier and an inaccurate representation of the true quality of my work.
I’ve been told many times that I’m a good writer. That I express myself effectively and that I possess above-average emotional intelligence. This is all well and good, but am I funny? For the love of God, answer me already! Unless that answer is “no” of course.
